Coregeneration of recalcitrant plants

Invention

The invention provides for a method to regenerate recalcitrant plant cells into regenerative shoots by establishing contact to regenerative plant cells.

Benefits

Many workflows in plant biotechnology require regeneration from single cells into whole plants. As in general plant cells have a limited capacity to regenerate, the regeneration step is the major bottleneck of such workflows. The broadly applicable protocols of the present invention have the potency to be a game changer.

Vision

To benefit from new breeding technologies in crop improvement, the issue of regeneration of plant cells into full plants needs to be resolved. The present invention is expected to revolutionize the application of plant biotechnology methods by making them applicable also to recalcitrant plant species.
